The Year of the Rabbit is coming

February 3rd 2011 is the year of the Metal Rabbit.

This is image is a nengajō card, which is a card Japanese people send to each other at the beginning of the new year.

I love these sorts of specific traditional customs and the images which serve them, not that I am one to get myself organized enough to participate in a tradition like this.

But I enjoy the sparse yet evokative technique shown here in this vintage card. You can see more these images here.

the window dance

The seemingly topsy turvy figurines which sit in one of my windows, were against a grey water filled sky at the time of this shot. I like the rhythms here, and the strangeness.

Self-Preservation

I've taken the whole 'Diamond 'n Rust' range, as well as the 'Lemurian' pieces into Self-Preservation in the city. At present this is really the only place where people can see current work, unless they visit me in my studio. This display is what was there before the current stock arrived today. Its such a beautiful place, the coffee is delicious, and Anitsa and Lina are wonderful. I am happy to have my work there...
