star burst

I found this gorgeous photo in JPG magazine, an online mag dedicated to 'brave new photography'. I find this evokes some sense of still and magic in my mind, I'm sure I've seen scenes such as this, and stood their soaking up the quite dark, and sparkling lights as they dance on the rippling surface of the water. A bit like how inspiration comes..just lightly touching the tip of your consciousness, and if you even move sometimes, it evaporates into the humdrum ho hum of everyday happenings...

Art on MoMA´s Floor in New York City

I was just hankering for New York when I woke up this morning..really one of my favourite cities. I found this photo, which gave me a sense of what it is I love about it. Art and its dialectic are just part of everyday life there. It doesn't always manifest in things which are to your taste, but nevertheless, it is always present in one form or another. I love MoMa, I always head straight there, and cry in front of the Matisse painting: 'The Dance'.

Eclipse

Eclipse, originally uploaded by cYrus!.

This photo came up on a search I did for 'death flower'. Another person within my community has just died, and it feels like a time of transformation, and letting go some more.
This photo has a mixture of dark and light. There is a feeling of a group of people holding the light. I sometimes find the light of my inspiration comes after a journey into the dark.

Radha and Krishna

This morning I woke up thinking about Radha and Krishna. The story I know goes, that he was devoted to her devotion to the divinity in him. I feel this as something to really look at. A person's passion and devotion is in itself a divine path. When I find the river of passionate creative force which soars through my being from time-to-time, it takes over my whole consciousness, in the same way that love does. Everything else disappears when Love is allowed its passage...

Egon Schiele

'Nude with Violet Stockings and Black Hair'
By Egon Schiele (Austrian 1890-1918) This is a drawing by Mr. Schiele at MOMA. He is one of my favorites. He was only 28 when he died. The life in the lines, erotic and vivid, the natural colours and always slightly disarming compositions, take one beyond expectations...

'Intimacy in Motion'

Yesterday I did the wonderful workshop: 'Intimacy in Motion', a 5 Rhythms (c) run by my beloved friend Madhuma Thompson. Apart from taking my body and emotions out for 'a run', I found great depths of understanding and intimacy in my self, the Self and all that is. Today I feel open and so much more available to life, and my creativity.

Mantle Cats pose

Chico, the live cat in this picture, discovered a new place to be above it all. He sat right beneath the painting I did a couple of years ago of his predecessor, Nino. (although, really it always looked more like Kali, the brown Burmese girl, who died last year, after twenty years of being our companion and rowdy family member).
This is also a picture of the work in progress on our new apartment...

a relationship in plaster

I took this photo a few years ago when I saw these two old mannequins clearly conversing with one another. They were part of my mother's (Sophie van Rood) 'Banana Room' collection. This was their last conversation. I sometimes wonder if they have stayed in touch from their different and no doubt widespread posts now...

caramel waves at dusk

The slow deep light of Lembongan bay at dusk as we sat and sipped our spicy drinks..the deep sound of long waves as they brushed into the shore..the quite sky, as the sun slipped slowly down to the horizon. The warm fragrant air, and lush winds.
