Happy 85th birthday Marilyn! ♡

She still brings tears to my eyes! When I was a child I thought she was a kind
of Goddess, and ofcourse she was. I was so inspired by her, and cried when
she was found dead in her Hollywood home. I realised all of a sudden that the
world I was living in couldn't accomodate someone as luminous, intelligent, funny
radiant and ofcourse vulnerable as Marilyn. This photo was taken by Cecil Beaton,
in my opinion, the master portrait photographer, amongst other things.

Ava Gardner - la plus belle

I was just thinking about the most beautiful women from the past. I just love Ava Gardner, her exotic beauty and mysterious depths. This picture looks like its from a later part of her career, when she was at her most extraordinary and gorgeous.

After Georgia O'Keefe

I started to think about how Georgia O'Keefe painted the inside of flowers in the most intimate and intense way, showing us our own connections to these wondrous manifestations of nature, sure put here by angels and the Gods. I searched for an image which spoke to me of this deeper self, the intricate and ephemeral language of emotion. I found this image by the artist: Len Bomba, which he calls 'Blue Pansy - Georgia O'Keefe Style'. (see more about this picture here)
